The Beaufort County Genealogical Society met on April 5, 2005 at the Brown Library.  President Terria Baynor called the meeting to order and welcomed 21 members and guests.

The treasurer’s report was given and the minutes of the March anniversary supper event were read and approved.  Mary Disharoon, correspondence secretary, read a thank you note from Marletta Childs for the certificate she was sent that recognized her 20 years as a member of BCGS.

A letter was also read from a Belgium resident that was interested in finding out if anyone had any information on Walter Goddard of Washington that was killed in action on September 1, 1918. Mr. Goddard was killed in action and is buried at Flanders Field, a World War 1 cemetery.  This Belgium citizen is trying to catalog information on those buried in this cemetery.

Members were also informed of an upcoming program to be held at the Ella Mae Abbott Room of the Martin Memorial Library on April 28, 2005.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the guest speaker will be Margaret Hoffman who will speak on “Searching for the Courthouse.”
